Some more music videos

Thought I'd share some more favorite music/videos for a number of reasons. One, I've been thinking about the group Delta Spirit. I like them a lot and they recently released a new album. I was hoping to make it to their concert tomorrow night but alas, life got in the way yet again. They did a takeaway show for La Blogotheque with several songs but these two are my favorites:



Wouldn't you take public transportation more if there were live musical performances? I would. That would be awesome.

Here's a song off of the new album. The new album is different from previous ones. I like it even though it is very different from their first two albums. Far more modern sounding and not as dominated by Matt Vasquez's voice. That being said, it sort of sounds like lots of other groups. Maybe it's not so awful I'm not making the concert.



Then I came across this outstanding cover of Hall and Oates' I Can't Go For That by Nikki Bluhm and the Gramblers:



That got me thinking about "live" videos which I can't think of without thinking of Airborne Toxic Event and their eight week acoustic series.  And since I was already thinking of van performances, why not another fine one?



Lastly I'll go old school with my favorite MTV Unplugged song. A Letter for Elise by the Cure. Love the toy piano.

New music in February

Good googly moogly, am I excited about this month. Two of my favorite groups are releasing new music.

Airborne Toxic Event released the first single off of their new album. The song is called Changes and the album is going to be released in April.



DeVotchKa is releasing their new album on Valentine's Day. The first single is called 100 Other Lovers.

Music

Since 2008 just ended, I thought I'd wrap it up by posting some of the musical artists whom I enjoyed listening to a lot in 2008. Since I've moved to Lancaster County, I feel my musical tastes have been....I don't want to say broadened because where they have expanded is relatively narrowed. I guess I have become exposed to more music. This has largely been due to XPN. Just a great radio station. Most other years would find me listening to a mix of genres. There'd be some classical and jazz on this list. This past year, though, I seemed to listen to a lot of "alternative rock". In some cases, I might have been late to the scene - the album I enjoyed may have been released in 2007 (or earlier for all I know) but I listened to and enjoyed these artists a lot.

The songs and groups I'm posting are in no particular order and are not necessarily my favorites by the artist. I chose them for how they exemplify the group, how the performance sounds in the clip and accessibility of media of the song (i.e., is there a decent YouTube rendition).
